I posted my flash from last week and as I was rereading it, I thought, "it's going to say I write like Stephen King." And sho'nuf, that's what it said!

So I posted two of my other flashes on the same character and it said...Stephen King. Which is good news, since I am trying to write a story, so I am glad it has some continuity. I happen to think he's a terrific writer. But let me just state for the record, we are in VERY different genres.

When I posted a short story I wrote a few months ago, it said I wrote like David Foster Wallace, who I confess I don't know. I guess he's an essay writer, which makes a ton of sense, since I love to write essays.

Thanks for this, it's super fun!!

Oh dear.... Well, I think the Lovecraft one is kind of interesting given what I remember of Sonia's story -- it had potential for being kind creepy (but in a good way :) ) And Lovecraft is pretty creepy.

How the program got the others from your children's stories is a real puzzle. Like I wrote in my original post, I think they still have some software bugs to work out, but this sure was fun to play with. And, boy, have they gotten A LOT of publicity in the less than a week that this program has been available. I guess people really want to have some connection with writers and writing!

Ok, this one was weird for me. I put in the first part of Sonia's Regret and I matched with HP Lovecraft - an author of macabre short novels, and later a cult figure in horror. He did marry a lady named Sonia, so maybe that is where the match came from. I put in two of my childrens stories and was matched with Mario Puzo and David Foster Wallace. Reading about them on google, I decided not to enter anything else into this tool. :)

I'll be interested in learning who you come up with -- of course, you need to find a writer who includes photos with everything.
