Go Ahead, Make My Quote of the Day

clint-eastwood-02 Clint:  A Retrospective is coming out next week.

Today’s Wall Street Journal provided the following Eastwood quote:

“When I was doing The Bridges of Madison County, I said to myself, ‘This romantic stuff is really tough. I can’t wait to get back to shooting and killing.'”

Gotta love him.

I thought of you, Dayner, as soon as I read the quote, and knew I had to post it right away. And thanks, I was really happy with the post heading, too.

    Typical Man! LOL

I think Clint did an awesome job in Gran Torino. My husband rented that movie and I thought, “Oh God, please let the doorbell ring,” before we started the DVD player. But once it started I wanted to put a do not disturb sign on the front door. I was pleasantly suprised at how well he handled the part.

I didn’t see Gran Torino, but I think he’s done a great job of transitioning from actor to director. Did you know he wrote the theme songs for a bunch of his movies (including Bridges of Madison County)?

And he sings ‘Accentuate the Positive’ on the soundtrack of Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil.

No, I had no knowledge that he either wrote theme songs, or sang. For some reason I now have this aweful singing cowboy vision in my head that I can’t get out. Something to the kin of Dirty Hairy meets the von Trapps.

Those are really cool pieces of Trivia! Thanks for sharing them.

Okay, here’s some more trivia: Kevin Spacey sings ‘That Old Black Magic’ in Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil. All those good old Johnny Mercer tunes (the murder takes place in Johnny Mercer’s old house). I thought John Kusack sang something too, but I’m not sure.

Now you’ve got me scurrying to look through boxes in the garage. I used to have the CD from the movie, must still be in there somewhere….
