Friday Flash 55

081doorway-martinswalkup-doorwayShe paused in the darkness. Was something, someone, moving behind her? The metallic taste of fear rose in her throat; her heart raced.

If only she could reach the door first — get to the other side, safety. Slowly she inched forward.

The air shifted, rippled. She was not alone. Something warm brushed against her ankle.

“Meow!”

OMG this was awesome. You had me right on the edge of my seat and then —- meow!

Perfect ending with a perfect twist. I think I just used my last store of energy for the day between the tension that built in my shoulders and the explosion of laughter at the end.

Thanks! Please realize that I wrote this with Ms. Lola stretched out on my desk, draped over my arms as they tried to reach the keyboard. I hoped that by featuring her in a post, she’d be satisfied and leave me alone so that I could write.

This was great! You had me going till the end! My calico Bella likes to sit on my lap with her head on my arm while I am trying to type on the computer. She is relentless and just shifts positions to accomodate my movements.

Well, anything goes with Ms. Lola Isabella. She LOOKS so sweet and feminine, but in her case, looks are certainly deceiving.

At first I thought you were trying to kill Libby again. I love this “The metallic taste of fear rose in her throat; her heart raced.”
I could taste it as I read. Well done!!
