NaNoWriMo – Day Two

Okay, I’ve made it through 2 days of NaNoWriMo and I’m still alive! I’ve logged 4826 words, almost 10% of what I need to produce by the end of the month in order to be a NaNoWriMo winner.

I can say, without a doubt, that the vast majority of what I’ve written so far is crap. And I don’t care! It’s just a really interesting experience to keep going and not going back to edit/revise. I started heading in one direction and a couple of pages in went, eh, I’m not so sure about this — let’s see if I can hang a right or a left somewhere up ahead — anything but a U turn! I probably won’t look back at my draft at all except to make sure I’m using the same names for my characters throughout. I do a spell check before closing the document for the last time at night, and OF COURSE I am backing up my work every day to another site.

This morning I drove a friend to one of those medical procedures that they don’t want you to drive after because they have given you one of those miracle drugs that make you think ‘hey, isn’t it cool that you’re gonna stick that probe up my — yikes’ and when you are thinking like that, you’re not going to worry too much about driving through red lights or off the bridge afterwards.

On the way to the medical center, she gave me a couple of good ideas that I stuck in today’s writing. Thanks, B!

I just want to say that I am so glad to have my writing buddies jogging along beside me for this marathon. Thanks, everyone!

Time to crash now. Til tomorrow!

  • I can say without a doubt that 99% of what I have written so far is crap.

I pasted a few excerpts to the Caveman’s page so we can all have a good laugh. I didn’t post anything that will give the plot away of course. Because so far I haven’t written anything that would. LOL

Okay, I’ve had too much wine. I think I should go to bed.

Congrats on keeping pace with your word count. See you in the morning my friend.

  • Hey! Sorry to be breathing down your neck but I’m right behind you with 4348. I’ll try not to step on your heels!

It’s fun running with you, both of us going off the beaten track, with arms and legs flailing and nothing to show for it but a trail of crap.

Let’s do it again tomorrow. OK with you?

  • I wouldn’t dare post my crap-or-er-I mean novel and make you read it. I can’t imagine to typos and misspellings. I’m too afraid to look at it in fear that I might want to edit.

  • I took a note from you guys and I’ve been trying to write more crap today. It think it’s working! I started by writing an entire paragraph on how much I hate NaNoWriMo. And just to follow Baty’s orders, I didn’t even delete it.

Seriously, I am sure it’s not as crappy as you think it is. (that goes for you, too, Dayner)

    Keep the crap on coming!!!!
