Okay, I’ve made it through 2 days of NaNoWriMo and I’m still alive! I’ve logged 4826 words, almost 10% of what I need to produce by the end of the month in order to be a NaNoWriMo winner.
I can say, without a doubt, that the vast majority of what I’ve written so far is crap. And I don’t care! It’s just a really interesting experience to keep going and not going back to edit/revise. I started heading in one direction and a couple of pages in went, eh, I’m not so sure about this — let’s see if I can hang a right or a left somewhere up ahead — anything but a U turn! I probably won’t look back at my draft at all except to make sure I’m using the same names for my characters throughout. I do a spell check before closing the document for the last time at night, and OF COURSE I am backing up my work every day to another site.
This morning I drove a friend to one of those medical procedures that they don’t want you to drive after because they have given you one of those miracle drugs that make you think ‘hey, isn’t it cool that you’re gonna stick that probe up my — yikes’ and when you are thinking like that, you’re not going to worry too much about driving through red lights or off the bridge afterwards.
On the way to the medical center, she gave me a couple of good ideas that I stuck in today’s writing. Thanks, B!
I just want to say that I am so glad to have my writing buddies jogging along beside me for this marathon. Thanks, everyone!
Time to crash now. Til tomorrow!
